Baseball: Big inning carries Greensboro past Panthers in final game of USA South series

WILSON, N.C. - LaGrange finished its three-game USA series against Greensboro on Sunday at Fleming Stadium. The Pride used a seven-run fifth inning in route to a 10-4 win over the Panthers (11-20, 8-13 USA South).

The Panthers out hit the Pride 14-10 in the game. Kyle Nerbonne and Cain Sauls each had three hits, with Nerbonne driving in two runs. Alex Murfin and Keith Sims each had a double.

Tyler Brooks started and took the loss for the Panthers. He gave up six runs, four earned, in 4-1/3 innings. Daniel Garrett allowed four runs, only one earned, in 2-2/3 innings. Gage Mooney struck out two of the three batters he faced.

The Panthers host Oglethorpe on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then N.C. Wesleyan in a USA South series beginning Friday.
