LAGRANGE, Ga. – Having started the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) season undefeated, No. 2/10 LaGrange (17-6, 6-0 CCS) baseball will step out of league play as they travel to Berry (9-14, 4-5 SAA) fro the frontend of a home-and-home on March 28. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. in Rome, Georgia.

The Panthers come in as one of the hottest teams in the nation, having won nine of their last 10, with the one loss in that time being a narrow 6-5 final against No. 1 Birmingham-Southern (3/22). Following that loss they swept Covenant in CCS action, posting 9-4, 15-7 and 7-1 decisions – the first two of those coming tied at 2-2 late and trailing 7-3, respectively.

Berry has alternated wins and losses over their last six games, although the first two of those came against BSC and included an 8-4 upset of BSC on March 19. Following that they fell 12-3 to Emory (3/21) and bludgeoned Oglethorpe (3/24) by a 14-1 score on the road in the frontend of a doubleheader that would see them fall 10-4 in the nightcap. Most recently they fell 12-3 to the Stormy Petrels in the series finale on March 25.

SERIES HISTORY

LaGrange trails 10-3 in an all-time series against Berry that goes back only to 2013. The Vikings took six of the first seven meetings with the only Panther victory being a 7-6 decision in the second game in 2013. They would post a 10-9 win in 2017 before dropping the next four by a combined score of 29-10. Most recently they snapped that streak with a 7-4 win in the final meeting in 2019.
