JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Taking on the best teams in the country, LaGrange men's golf acquitted themselves well over the first 18 holes of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Friday, March 17. The Panthers shot a 303 to tie for 18-of-30 in a field featuring 14 nationally ranked opponents and nine of the 10 teams in the Top-10.

Freshman Martin Prlender (Cordoba, Argentina) shot a par-72 on the 6,700-yard Pine Lakes Course to tie for 19-of-150 while fellow freshman Jeremy Edmunds (Charlotte, N.C.) was two strokes back at 74 to tie for 36th. Fellow newcomer Garrett Armbrust (Woodstock, Ga.) rounded out the top performers with a round of 77 to tie for 82nd.

No. 3 Emory leads the field with a 283 with No. 5 Carnegie Mellon (286), No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (291), No. 14 Guilford (291) and No. 1 Christopher Newport (292) rounds out the top five.

The tournament continues with Round 2 and another 18 holes at 8:04 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, March 18 and fans can follow live scoring throughout the day.
