Men's Basketball: No. 22 Emory runs past Panthers in non-conference game

ATLANTA - Nationally ranked Emory rolled past LaGrange 95-65 on Wednesday at the Woodruff PE Center. The loss dropped the Panthers to 4-4 on the season, while the 22nd ranked Eagles improved to 4-2 with their third straight win.

Senior Kyle Brown had a game-high 22 points for LC. Freshman Kyle Smith had 14 points in his first start of the season. Cooper Dolhancyk came off the bench to score 14, while Bershard Evans had 11.

The Panthers stayed with the Eagles for the first 14 minutes of the game. The two teams swapped the lead back and forth.

Edwards drained a 3-pointer to put the Panthers up 27-23, their biggest lead of the game. The Eagles regained the lead, 28-27.

Camerin Lyons drove the lane to put the Panthers up for the last time, 29-28, with 5:52 left in the half. Emory closed out the half on an 18-1 run to go up 46-30 at the break.

The Eagles did not let up in the second half. Edwards' trey got LC within 15, 60-45, with 11:29 remaining. But the Panthers would not get closer as Emory pulled away for the win.

The Panthers were held to 32.9% shooting in the game, including 6-of-27 from 3-point range. Emory had a 56-39 rebounding advantage. The Eagles' Matthew Schner had a double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds.

The Panthers take a break for final exams. They resume play Dec. 12 at Birmingham-Southern.
