Men’s basketball crushes Covenant in away CCS matchup

Samuel Moss's big second half and great team shooting, helps the Panthers rise above the host Scots, 96-59.

First half details

The men's team also began their game today against the host Scots on fire. Ten minutes in, the Panthers led 16-7 and the starting lineup looked great. Over the next few possessions, Covenant were able to claw their way back to a 20-18 game. One play from this half that had the LC bench on their feet happened when Camerin Lyons found a wide open Gabe Cofield for him to knock down a three. At the half, the Panthers led 37-24. LC was able to extend their lead once Shaun Nichols hit some late shots. 

Nichols led LC in scoring with eight points, shooting 43% from the field.

Second half details

The Panthers continued their dominance in the second half. The team was using great communication, the LC shots were falling and the Panthers were able to out-rebound Covenant 44-23. The Panthers pulled away to finish the game with a 96-59 win. 

Top Panther performance

Samuel Moss scored a team-high 20 points, shooting 50% from the field and 17% from three. The freshman phenom also grabbed eight rebounds and added another block.

LC returns home to take on Berea this Friday (Jan. 12). The game tips off at 7 p.m.
