LaGrange blasted three home runs, including a grand slam by Danielle Newbern, in sweeping visiting Agnes Scott on Friday. The Panthers took the doubleheader by scores of 8-2 and 9-3 in improving to 4-0.

Newbern's grand slam highlighted a six-run fourth inning for the Panthers in the second game. Dani Gravett had a solo home run in the second game, while Olivia Wolfe had a two-run shot in the first game.

Gravett (1-0) pitched five innings in the first game to get the win. She gave up two runs on four hits, while walking two and striking out three. Lea Porter threw two scoreless innings to close out the victory.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. They loaded the bases on three straight hits and Wolfe drew a walk to force in Newbern with the game's first run. Alison Jiles scored the second run as Adrienne Little grounded out to third.

Agnes Scott (0-4) got a run back in the top of the fifth to cut the Panthers lead to 2-1. 

The Panthers came back with six runs in their half of the fifth. They were helped by four Scottie errors and Wolfe's two-run home run to left center highlighted the uprising.

The Panthers had eight hits from eight different players in the game. Newbern and Jiles each scored two runs.

In the second game, the Panthers led twice only to have the Scotties tie the game.

The game was tied 3-3 heading to the Panthers' half of the fourth inning. Breanna Wallace broke the tie with an RBI double to left center.

Kalin Olgesby's single drove in Christy Flick to make it 5-3. Gravett was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Newbern. Newbern sent a line drive to left that hit the top of the fence and went over for her first career grand slam and a 9-3 lead.

Wolfe (2-0) went the distance on the mound, allowing the three runs, only two were earned. She walked five and struck out seven.

The Panthers had 11 hits in the game. Newbern, Wallace and Emily Barrs each had two.

The Panthers host Wesleyan on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
