LAGRANGE, Ga. – After seeing foul weather derail their first set of the weekend against Maryville, LaGrange (7-15, 1-3 CCS) softball returns to action as they travel to Berea (1-15, 0-10 CCS) for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 8. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 12 p.m. with the nightcap set for approximately 2 p.m.

After having dropped three of their previous four games, the Panthers delivered one of their best games of the season – and against one of the best teams in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS). They would go toe-to-toe with Belhaven (4/1), which entered with a 7-1 league mark, and posted a four-hit, 1-0 victory that would see them strand Blazer baserunners in the sixth and seventh. They then closed the day with a 13-4 loss to BU.

Berea comes in having posted a single victory, that being a 12-0 decision over Cincinnati-Clermont (2/26) and, other than a narrow 2-1 loss in the second game of that doubleheader, it hasn't been close the rest of the time. In their other 14 games, all of them have been losses of at least eight run margins, including 10 by double digits. Most recently they dropped 10-2 and 12-0 decisions at Agnes Scott (4/2).

SERIES HISTORY

The Panthers hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series against Berea, dating to the first meetings in 2018. They would sweep that first doubleheader by scores of 7-0 and 8-2 before doing the same the following year with 5-3 and 10-3 decisions in Berea, Kentucky. LaGrange returned home last season, falling 3-0 in the opener on April 9 before picking up a 10-5 win in the nightcap.
