Women’s basketball takes on Emory in the first away game of the season

The Panthers hit 85 west headed straight to Atlanta to face the Eagles of Emory tonight (Nov. 14) at 6 p.m. 

The matchup

Following the dominant performances over the past weekend's CCS-SAA classic, LC goes into Emory 2-0. The Panthers beat Berry 81-66 (Nov. 11) and then Sewanee 70-61 (Nov. 12). Zyhia Johnson has averaged 19.5 points, which leads the Panthers in scoring. Laila Battle follows in scoring, averaging 15.5 points and a team-high four assists. The Eagles are 1-1 and are coming off of a crushing 81-44 win over N.C. Wesleyan (Nov. 12). The Eagles one loss was a 57-47 defeat to the juggernaut CNU Captains (Nov. 11). CNU finished 2nd overall in D3 and looks like they will repeat their success this year. Izzy Munson leads Emory in scoring with 11 points per game.

The series

LC and Emory faced each other twice last season and the Panthers lost 79-57 (Nov. 8, 2022) and 84-72 (Nov. 16, 2022). In those two games, Zyhia Johnson averaged a team-high 14 points. Claire Brock led the Eagles with a whopping 28.5 points in the LC-Emory games.
