Women’s Soccer: Panthers earn second win

The LaGrange Panthers extended their win streak to two with a 1-0 victory over Salem College Friday night at home. The win raises LC to a 2-1-1 record.

The only score of the night came in the 33rd minute by Kristen Captino, her second of the season, assisted by Kaia King, her third  of the season.

The Panthers outshot their opponent for the second game in a row, outpacing Salem 20-7. While Salem had six of their seven shots on goal, the Panthers fired 10 shots on goal—with Captino putting three on goal, Makenzi Maltezo and Sydney Dailey putting two on goal, and King and Nikki Longmore each adding a shot on goal.

Panther goalkeeper Leia Moss provided another clean sheet and picked up her second win of the season, saving all six Salem shots on goal.

"This was a hard fought win that tested us in many ways, physically and emotionally," said Head Coach Kennet Fosuhene. "Collectively as a unit we played well defensively, and offensively created many chances.

"It feels good for a young team to put a string of performances together in a row this early in the season!"

The Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Mississippi University for Women and on Thursday against Trinity Baptist as they look to build momentum heading toward conference play.
