Lookout Mountain, Georgia – The LaGrange College Women's Soccer team ended a four-game winning streak with a 1-1 tie against Covenant College in its Collegiate Conference of the South opener.
The Panthers (4-1-2) started off hot, with Madison Drobisch scoring her second goal of the season 17 minutes into the game to give LC the early lead. By the end of the first half, LC still held the 1-0 lead, with Leia Moss, who returned after missing one game due to injury, recording four saves.
Moss could not hold back Covenant in the second half, as the Scots scored with 24 minutes remaining to tie the game at one all—and that is where it stayed at the final whistle.
"I'm really proud of the young ladies today," said Head Coach Kennet Fosuhene. "We worked hard, showed resilience throughout the game.
"Since 2013 we haven't gotten a positive result from Covenant. Today's outcome is a massive result that shows the progress of the group and the program. We must continue to work hard and continue this good start to the season."
LaGrange was outshot 16-7 in the game and only put four shots on goal, with Sydney Dailey, Lauren Williamson, Drobisch and Kaia King having one shot each. Moss finished with six saves, improving her record to 3-1-2 on the season in goal.
The Panthers will look to extend their unbeaten streak of five on the road next Tuesday at Birmingham–Southern and on Wednesday at home against Oakwood.
