Panthers were unable to come away with a win at Oglethorpe

The Panthers dropped their away match tonight (Sept. 19) against Oglethorpe 1-0.

In the first 20 minutes of the match, both teams were trading shots on goal but the goalkeepers were saving anything that came their way. That was until in the 22 minute, Harlow Cregar hit a high left shot to put Oglethorpe up 1-0. This was the lone goal of the half. Cassidy Abbott was the stand-out Panther of the first period. She saved an impressive six shots on goal and only allowed one.

The Panthers still were not able to get a goal in the second half. Although they ended up losing 1-0 they came out in the second half playing much better as a unit. They over doubled their shots from three to eight and the Panthers defense prevented Oglethorpe from getting as many shots in the second. In the first half, they had 11 shots and were held to only five in the second period.

Although they did not win, the great play in the second half is something the Panthers can carry into their next game.

The team continues CCS play this week as they travel to Agnes Scott on Sept. 21, at 3 p.m.
