Berry topped LaGrange 7-1 in a non-conference game Tuesday at Bowdoin Stadium. The loss left the Panthers 5-3 on the season. The Vikings evened their record at 1-1.
Berry took advantage of three errors in the game by the Panthers. The miscues led to five unearned runs for the Vikings.
Kolby Skolnik (0-1) started and took the loss. He allowed three runs, one earned in three innings of work. Skolnik was the first of five LC pitchers. He was followed by Anthony Elias, Gibson Bittner, Tanner Chafin, and Tyler Richards.
Jack Layrisson had two of the Panthers' six hits in the game. Rhett Mixon had a double in the ninth inning. Mixon later scored on McKinley Erves' ground out.
The Panthers travel to Jackson, Mississippi for the Millsaps College Tournament that runs Friday through Sunday. The Panthers face tournament host Millsaps on Friday, North Park (Ill.) on Saturday, and Berry on Sunday.
