FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - Senior Thomas Bird had his second straight Top 20 finish as LaGrange finished 14th at the Royal Lakes Invitational. The Panthers, playing in their second tournament of the fall, had a total of 619 over the Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club course.
Bird had rounds of 73 and 74 for a three-over par total of 147 to tie for 17th out of 99 golfers, bettering his 19th place finish at the Rhodes Invitational. In the first round, he had four birdies on the round, including back-to-back ones on the 17th and 18th holes to close out the round. Bird recorded the Panthers' lone eagle of the tournament on the par-5 18th hole during Monday's final round.
Freshman Luke Jarvis was five shots back of Bird. Jarvis shot back-to-back rounds of 76. He reeled off 12 straight pars to start his first round on Sunday. Senior Jay Adams followed Jarvis with rounds of 76 and 79 for a 155 total. Freshman Alex Oda (165) and sophomore Connor Gillespie (169) rounded out the scoring for LC.
The Panthers play in the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational at the Raven Golf Course in Sandestin, Florida on Oct. 17-19.
