Cross Country: Joseph Grubbs places ninth in 8 kilometer at Coach Gary Wilson Invitational

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Senior Karli Whitaker and junior Malcolm Roberts of the LaGrange College cross country team set personal records with times of 26:46.21 and 34:42.26 in the 5 and 8 kilometer, respectively, on Saturday morning at the Coach Gary Wilson Invitational.

Senior Holly Moreland was the Panthers' top-performer on the women's side for the third time this season and 15th time in her career. She covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 24:23.86. Whitaker was LC's second-place finisher for the second straight meet.

On the men's side, freshman Joseph Grubbs took home first-place honors on the team for the third consecutive meet. The Hephzibah, Georgia, native finished ninth out of 60 runners, clocking a time of 28:29.70 in the 8-kilometer event.

"It was a successful all-around meet for us," said LaGrange College Cross Country Head Coach Jasen Jonus. "We had some individual records and Joseph continued to shine. We will keep getting after it in practice and look to improve meet to meet with our sights set on late October and November."

Other noteworthy performances for the Panthers came from Landon DeLamar (28:14.03), Kelsey Bowen (29:05.71) and Lindsey Green (29:31.46). Elijah Rachel covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 43:34.84.

The Panthers will compete in the Huntingdon Invitational Friday at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on the Greenbrier Cross Country Course in Grady, Alabama.
