Senior Makayla Red of the LaGrange College women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in singles action this season during an 8-1 setback to Covenant Saturday afternoon on the Greer Tennis Courts.
The match was the USA South opener for the Panthers (0-3, 0-1 USA South) and Scots (4-2, 1-0 USA South).

Red won at the fifth singles slot, 6-2, 7-5. Madelyn Savage clinched the match for Covenant, emerging victorious, 6-0, 6-1, during No. 1 singles.
Red led LC with four combined wins between singles and doubles competition during the abbreviated 2019-20 season. The Franklin, Georgia, native won in singles and doubles action against Oglethorpe on Feb. 27, 2021, on the Greer Tennis Courts.
During the match against Oglethorpe, freshman Sydney Tyler picked up her first collegiate win at the fourth singles slot. Sophomore Hannah Miller finished 2-0 in the match, winning at the third doubles flight with Red and individually at No. 6 singles.
The Panthers are scheduled to travel to USA South-rival Berea on Saturday, March 13. The time of the match is to be determined.
