Seniors Nicole Phillips and Makayla Red of the LaGrange College women's tennis team were honored for their outstanding collegiate careers during senior day festivities Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers fell, 9-0, to Piedmont on the Greer Tennis Courts.

"I could not be prouder of how our team battled through some adversity these last few seasons," said LaGrange College women's tennis head coach Matt Donnett. "We will miss our two seniors dearly. I cannot thank them for all the word work they have put in during their time here and how they represented our college."

Phillips suited up for the No. 1 singles and doubles matches and Red represented the Panthers (2-5, 2-3 USA South) at the second doubles flight and the fourth singles position. Imani Vincent clinched the match for the Lions (14-5, 7-0) with a 6-0, 6-0, win at the top singles slot.

NICOLE PHILLIPS RESUME:

Phillips has taken on the challenge over the last two seasons, competing at the No. 1 singles and doubles slot during every match. During the 2018-19 season, she was an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete and was LC's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team.

As a rookie in 2017-18, the Enigma, Georgia, native won eight singles matches and emerged victorious in nine doubles flights. The four-year Panther is the proud daughter of Scott and Robin Phillips and her major is biochemistry.

MAKAYLA RED RESUME:

Red has compiled a 13-11 record in singles matches during her three-year Panther career. She has posted four singles victories in seven matches during the 2021 season, tied for the most on the team.

During the abbreviated 2019-20 campaign, she led LaGrange with three singles wins in four matches. The Franklin, Georgia, native is the proud daughter of Michael and Danica Red and her major is early childhood education. After graduating in May, Red will be teaching at Heard County Elementary School.
