LaGrange lost a doubleheader to Rhodes and Millsaps on Saturday in Williamson Stadium at Cleaveland Field. Rhodes used a big inning in a 15-2 win over the Panthers, then Millsaps won a 17-10 slugfest in the second game.
The Panthers (2-6) have lost three straight now. The Panthers will play Rhodes and York in two games on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Rhodes used a 10-run fifth inning to break open the first game of the day. The Lynx (5-3) had 17 hits in the game, Seven different batters had two hits each. Patrick Kilkeeny had a grand slam and an RBI single in the fifth inning explosion.
Robby Williams (1-2) started and took the loss for the Panthers. Williams allowed 13 runs; 11 earned, in 4-2/3 innings. The Panthers also used Henry Jacobs, Thomas Embry and Tyler Brooks. Embry and Brooks threw two scoreless innings each.
The Panthers had eight hits in the game. Cody Muren, Linwood Roberds and Travis Ross each had two hits. Ross had a double included in his two hits.
In the second game of the day, the Panthers fell behind 3-0 in the second inning against Millsaps (7-2). They came back to take a 7-4 lead with three runs in the second and four in the third.
Anthony Iannetta had a two-run single and Evin Eichelberger a run-scoring single in the second. Jim Reed had a two-run base hit in the third inning.
The Majors came back with five runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to go up 12-8. The Panthers cut the lead to two runs with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Muren had a one-out triple in the fifth and scored on David Miller's double. Miller later scored on a wild pitch to make it 12-10.
Millsaps added three runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth for the 17-10 final. The Panthers used seven pitchers in the game, with Mason Webster (0-1) taking the loss. Webster started and pitched into the fourth, giving nine runs and walking eight.
The Panthers finished with 11 hits. Miller had three hits, scored two runs and drove in a run. Doug Scherer had two hits and scored two runs.
