LaGrange had three players selected for USA South football weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 19. Sophomore defensive back Klynell Johnson is the Defensive Player of the Week; while freshman receiver LJ Flint and and fellow freshman defensive back Cameron Grady were the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Week respectively.
Grady and Johnson led an LC defense that had a school record five interceptions in the 38-34 USA South win at Southern Virginia. Grady had two interceptions, returning one 37 yards for a TD. He led the team with seven tackles. Grady's second interception with less than a minute to go on a fourth-down play sealed the win. Johnson also had two interceptions, broke up two passes and finished with six tackles. He is the team's leading tackler through three games with 27. As a team, the Panthers have a conference-leading six interceptions.
Flint had only one reception in the game, but it went for a 73-yard TD. The long scoring play tied the game at 21-21 in the second quarter. It was the third longest TD reception in the program's history. For the season, he has seven catches for 180 yards and two TDs. Flint's 25.7 yards per catch leads the USA South and ranks 18th in NCAA Division III.
