LaGrange ended its season with a 55-9 Senior Day loss to Huntingdon at Callaway Stadium on Saturday. The Panthers finished 2-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
Six seniors were honored before the game: Ryan Bullock, Shedrick Lindsey, James Monroe, Garrett Poole, Joe Thomas and Jonathan Williams. Lindsey threw for 225 yards and a touchdown, while Thomas was in on three tackles.
Junior tight end De'queze Fryer wrapped up an outstanding season. Fryer had eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. He set a school record with 944 receiving yards. Fryer had the second most receptions (66) and TD receptions (11) in a season by a Panther. He led the conference in receptions, receiving yards, receiving yards per game, and receptions per game. In addition, Fryer is the first Panther to score at least one touchdown in every game of a season.
Huntingdon (8-2, 8-0 USA South) finished unbeaten in the conference with its eighth straight win. The Hawks had 523 yards of offense, 367 coming on the ground.
The Hawks scored on their first play from scrimmage and led 14-0 five minutes into the game. Roderick Kirkland's interception stopped a Hawks' drive at the Panthers' 47.
Lindsey passed 16 yards to Fryer down to the Hawks' 25. But the drive stalled, and Alex Rivera's 42-yard field goal attempt went wide of the mark.
LC put together a 67-yard scoring drive late in the quarter. Fryer accounted for 54 of the yards. He made a one-handed catch with a defender blanketed on him to the 15. Two plays later, Lindsey found Fryer in the end zone to make it 14-6.
Huntingdon would score 41 unanswered points after LC's score. The Hawks led 28-6 at halftime. Kahari McReynolds returned the second half kickoff 80 yards for his third TD of the game. He finished with 195 yards of total offense.
Rivera kicked a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring. Rivera is third on the school career list with 18 field goals. He punted for the first time this season, averaging 33.6 yards per punt, with a long punt of 43 yards.
Sophomore linebacker Klynell Johnson had a game high 12 tackles. Johnson's 92 tackles were the second most in a season by a Panther.
