CLEVELAND, Ga. – LaGrange (0-8) wrapped up their second weekend of the season with a pair of 5-0 losses to St. Andrews (1-3, 0-0 SUN) and Truett-McConnell (5-3) in NCAA beach volleyball action on Saturday, February 11.
ST. ANDREWS 5, LAGRANGE 0
The Panthers opened the day against St. Andrews and, following forfeits at the No. 4 and No. 5 position, they would fall in straight sets.
Freshman Riley Morgan (Jackson, Ga.) and junior Carmen Hamilton (Alpharetta, Ga.) dropped the top spot 21-4, 21-11 to Kyra McKinney and Parker Venable while freshman Morgan Martin (Chelsea, Ala.) and freshman Alexis Childers (Adairsville, Ga.) fell 21-12, 21-14 to Kaleigh Morawietz and Marisa Alejo-Vann at No. 2. The tandem of senior Vianca Colon-Gonzalez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) and freshman Rhaya Harwell (Austell, Ga.) dropped a 21-7, 21-13 decision to Lauren Gauna and Kaitlin Ybarra at No. 3.
TRUETT-MCCONNELL 5, LAGRANGE 0
Truett-McConnell posted a sweep of LC but would have to work for it following the two forfeits at the final two spots.
Following a convincing 21-6, 21-10 victory by Emma Boland and Leah Bowen over Morgan and Hamilton at No. 1, the duo of Martin and Childers pushed Katie Williams and Madyson Dunn at the second spot before falling 21-9, 21-16. The most competitive match of the day would come at the third spot as Colon-Gonzalez and Harwell pushed Jordan Roberts and Deomi Valmus before eventually falling 21-19, 21-12.
The Panthers are now off for nearly two weeks before returning home for four matches from February 24-25. They will take on Huntingdon and Lynchburg both days at the Strack Beach Volleyball Courts.
