ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan rallied to down LaGrange 11-10 in 10 innings Sunday at Bauer Field. The win enabled the Bishops (10-24, 8-19 USA South) to take two of three from the Panthers (13-19, 12-12 USA South).
Jim Reed led the Panthers' 11-hit attack with three hits and four RBIs. Ethan Nieman added two hits and drove in three runs.
Blake Schuck (0-4), the last of six pitchers used by the Panthers took the loss. Zach English started the game and went four innings, allowing five runs. He was followed by Tyler Brooks, Stephen Coelho, Jonathan Fleckenstein, Daniel Garrett and Schuck.
The Bishops led 5-4 after three innings. The Panthers took a 9-5 lead with a five-run fourth inning. Reed had a bases-loaded triple to cap the inning. Nieman drove in the first two runs with a single.
N.C. Wesleyan chipped away at the deficit, tying the game with a run in the eighth, then getting the game-winner in the 10th.
The Panthers play at No. 6 Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday. They host Ferrum in a USA South series starting Saturday with a doubleheader.
