The LaGrange baseball team placed seven players on the USA South All-Conference teams as announced by the conference Thursday. Junior third baseman Joe Ruth is the USA South Player of the Year (See story) and David Kelton is the USA South Coach of the Year (See story).
Senior McKinley Erves, Outfielder- All-Conference First team, West Division First team- Erves is second on the team with a .425 batting average and leads the team with 68 runs scored, 46 walks, and a .570 on-base percentage. He has four home runs, 34 RBIs and a .671 slugging percentage.
Senior Jack Layrisson, Utility/Desginated Hitter- All-Conference First team, West Division First team- Layrisson has played in right field, left field, at first base, and been the designated hitter for LC. He is batting .393 with five home runs and 52 RBIs, which is second on the team. Layrisson is tied for first on the team with 17 doubles.
Freshman Jacob Brown, Relief Pitcher- All-Conference First team, West Division First team- Brown is 7-0 with a 3.00 ERA and two saves. He has appeared in a team-high 18 games. Brown threw 5-1/3 scoreless innings in LC's 9-4 West Division clinching win at Huntingdon.
Junior Cael Chatham, Shortstop- West Division First team- Chatham is batting .383 with three home runs and 46 RBIs with a .532 slugging percentage.
Junior Baley Coleman, Pitcher- West Division First team- Coleman is 7-1 and tied with Brown for wins on the pitching staff. He has a 4.12 ERA in 12 appearances with 11 starts. Coleman leads the staff in strikeouts with 61.
Sophomore Dalton Brooks, Pitcher- West Division First team- Brooks is 5-1 with a 4.12 ERA. He is second to Coleman with 54 strikeouts.
Brown was also the team's representative on the conference's All-Sportsmanship team.
