ATLANTA, Ga. - Emory topped LaGrange 6-1 at Chappel Park on Sunday. The loss left the Panthers 11-13 for the season, while the Eagles improved to 11-9.
Robby Williams (1-3) pitched the first three innings for the Panthers. He allowed three runs, only two were earned. Doug Scherer also gave up three runs, two earned, in four innings of work. Henry Jacobs threw a scoreless eighth inning.
The Panthers avoided the shutout in the ninth inning. Linwood Roberds led off with an infield single and went to second on an error on the play. He moved over to third with two outs and scored on Blake Schuck's double to left field for the 6-1 final.
The two teams will play again Sunday, this time in Williamson Stadium at Cleaveland Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
