MARYVILLE, Tenn. - LaGrange set season highs in a 12-4 rout of Maryville on Sunday. The Panthers evened their record at 15-15 and took two-of-three games from the Scots in their final USA South game of the season.
With the win, the Panthers clinched the fourth seed in the USA South Tournament with a 13-11 conference record. They will face fifth-seeded Piedmont on Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Fleming Stadium in Wilson, N.C.
In beating the Scots for the second straight day, the Panthers set season highs with the 12 runs and banging out 19 hits.
Five different Panthers had three hits in the game: Jon Brock, Brent Kinsey, Miles Lee, Cody Muren and Josh Shiver. Brock and Kinsey each had a double included in their three hits each.
Shiver went 9-for-15 in the three-game series. He scored four runs and drove in another four runs.
The Panthers broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the inning, they bunched six hits and took advantage of three errors by the Scots.
The Panthers host Oglethopre in a non-conference game Tuesday.
