In its conference opener, the LaGrange College football team suffered its second loss of the season to Methodist University 38-28.
Methodist had the game's first score 7 minutes into the first quarter on a two-yard run, but LaGrange responded with a 17-yard passing touchdown from Shedrick Lindsey to De'Queze Fryer with 14 seconds left in the first quarter to tie the game.
The second quarter did not go the Panthers' way. Methodist outscored LC 17-0 in the quarter, with a 73-yard pass, a 26-yard field goal and a 36-yard run to give them a 24-7 lead going into the break.
The second half was much the same. The Panthers scored out of halftime on a seven-yard run by Jaydon Cooper to cut the Monarchs' lead to 10, but Methodist stretched the margin to 24 with 10:45 left in the final quarter.
The Panthers started to mount a comeback, scoring twice on Lindsey passes to LJ Flint, and the lead had been cut to 10 with four minutes left. Methodist picked up enough first downs on the ensuing drive and ran the clock out.
LaGrange had troubles at times on defense, giving up 551 total yards and 7.8 yards per play. Yamari Scott led the LC defense with 11 tackles and a tackle for loss.

Ajani Williams led LC with six catches for 95 yards. Christian Waymon led on the ground, with 79 yards on nine carries.
