The Panther Football Team fell 35-21 at home on Senior Day. LC dropped to 1-7 on the season.
The game honored the 2022 Panther Seniors: Aaron Belt, De'Queze Fryer, Jaxon Harrell, Justin Harrell, Klynell Johnson, Avery Kingston, Roderick Kirkland, Shedrick Lindsey, Malachi Parker, Alex Rivera, Len Spivey and Emmanuel Vulue.
The game started well for the Panthers, as the whistle sounded on the first and the game was tied at seven. The second quarter told a much different tale, as the Panthers entered the locker room down 28-7.
LC made a second-half push to climb out of the deficit, but the effort was not enough as Southern Virginia took down the Panthers 35-21.
The offense did their fair share, with Lindsey throwing for 394 yards on 50 attempts and three touchdowns. JayDon Cooper led the team in rushing with 44 yards on just six carries. Fryer had a breakout receiving day, grabbing nine catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns.
The defense struggled, however, giving up 468 yards, with 276 of those on the ground. Roderick Kirkland led the team with nine tackles.
The Panthers will wrap up the 2022 campaign on the road next week at Huntingdon, looking for their second win.
