ROME, Ga. – No. 6 Seed LaGrange (6-8, 1-5 CCS) men's tennis closed out the 2023 campaign as they dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 3 Seed Belhaven (7-6, 4-2 CCS) in the quarterfinals of the inaugural Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament on Thursday, April 27.
Seniors Al Robertson (Moreland, Ga.) and Luke Griffin (Atlanta, Ga.) dropped an 8-3 decision to Gaspar Meda and Bryce Livingston at No. 1 doubles before the Blazers notched the next two by identical 8-2 scores. Freshmen Michael Strydom (Brits, South Africa) and Nic Bodin (Atlanta, Ga.) fell to Abraham Gonzalez and Justin Humphrey at the second spot while freshmen Kyle Moore (Sharpsburg, Ga.) and Peyton Beasley dropped the No. 3 match to Mark Matviiev and Jason Ball.
Belhaven would put away the match early in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win by Humphrey over Beasley at No. 6 and a 6-0, 6-0 decision by Meda over Robertson at the top spot.
UP NEXT
The Panthers have closed out the season with a 6-8 overall record and collected a total of five CCS weekly honors. The later would see a pair of Player of the Week recognitions for Robertson on March 7 and April 4 with Griffin notching one on February 28 while Bodin claimed a pair of Rookie of the Week honors on March 7 and March 21.
