BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - No. 4 Birmingham-Southern swept a non-conference doubleheader from LaGrange on Wednesday. The losses left the Panthers 6-17. BSC improved to 23-4.
The host Panthers took the first game 8-0 and completed the sweep with a 10-2 win in the second game. Hailee Bryan (15-2) limited LC to three hits in the first game. Lindsey Swearngin, Maggie White, and Kenzie Hornsby each had a hit for the Panthers.
LC took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first of the second game. Swearngin led off the game with a single and one out later Maggie White walked. Abbey Gardner scored Swearngin with a single through the right side. Kaitlyn Redman's sacrifice fly brought home White with the second run.
BSC came back with a run in the second and two more in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The host Panthers broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning.
The Panthers are on the road Saturday for a USA South doubleheader against Maryville. LC hosts Asbury in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
