LaGrange used a seven-run second inning in route to a 10-5 win over Berea to salvage a USA South doubleheader Saturday on Senior Day at the LC Softball Complex. Berea (10-15, 3-7 USA South) blanked the Panthers (8-21, 3-5 USA South) 3-0 in the day's first game.
Seniors Kristina Calixto, Landon DeLamar, Kaitlyn Redman, and Karli Whitaker were honored between games. Redman had a two-run home run included in her two hits in Game 2. DeLamar and Calixto each had two hits. Whitaker had a hit and scored two runs.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Maggie White led off with a single and later scored as Abbey Gardner reached on an infield single.
In the second, LC pushed across a run and loaded the bases for Gardner. She brought in two runs with a double, followed by Lindsey Green's two-run single. Redman capped the inning with her third home run of the season for an 8-0 lead.
Berea pulled within three runs with four runs in the third and another in the fifth. The Panthers added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. White's single plated the first run and Gardner drove in her fourth run of the game with a sacrifice fly.
Berea's Madison McIntosh limited the Panthers to three hits in Game 1. DeLamar and Kenzie Hornsby each had a double for LC.
The Panthers play a USA South doubleheader at Huntingdon on Wednesday, April 13.
