LaGrange dropped a USA South doubleheader to West Division leader Piedmont on Tuesday at the LC Softball Complex. The Lions (24-9, 13-1 USA South) beat the Panthers (8-27, 3-11 USA South) 9-0 and 8-1.
Piedmont's Kara Taylor went 3-for-4, including a home run, and had four RBIs in the first game. For the Panthers, Lindsey Swearngin had three hits, while Kenzie Hornsby had a double. Swearngin (1-12) also pitched a complete game in the circle. Emma McBrayer (12-2) scattered seven hits in getting the win for the Lions.
The Panthers fell behind 4-0 in the second game. They got an unearned run in the fifth inning. Lindsey Green reached on an error with one out. Reagan Gunter had an infield single and Kari Whitaker walked to load the bases. Green came home as Maggie White grounded out. The Lions added four insurance runs in the sixth. The Lions' Martina Maloch (10-4) held the Panthers to two hits. Macie Harris (1-4) took the loss for LC. Faith Burgamy pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
The Panthers end the season Saturday with a USA South doubleheader at Agnes Scott.
