With spring quickly approaching, the 2024 LaGrange College softball season is on deck and the team has been gearing up for a year full of home runs, stolen bases and LC wins. In less than a month, the Panthers are set to open the year with an exhibition at Point University on Feb. 3. A week later, LC will begin their regular season with a home doubleheader against Rhodes College (Feb. 10). This season marks the third year Head Coach Mel Rushing took over the Panther softball program.
The team is coming off of a 13-23 (7-9 CCS) season and has a great deal of talent coming back for 2024. One key player returning is Claire Chamberlain. Last year, Chamberlain was named CCS Rookie Pitcher of the Year after having one of the best CCS ERA (3.42). The talented freshman finished with a record of 10-10, completed 13 games and also registered one save. Another key player returning this season is Katelyn Minnihan. Minnihan was a 2023 CCS First Team All-Conference selection after dominating as a pitcher and a hitter. In 23 innings pitched, she threw 16 strikeouts, allowed zero balls past her on the mound and caught two runners stealing. As a hitter, she posted a .396 batting average, had 38 hits, batted in 10 runs and also stole 13 bases. These are just a couple of great players returning for the 2024 season.
This years team is looking to carry the success of 2023 into this season and you still have the option to buy tickets and support the LC student-athletes. Season tickets are available to be purchased here.
