LaGrange completed a three-game sweep of Brevard with a see saw 11-8 win Saturday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers' fourth straight win upped their record to 11-10, while the Tornados fell to 2-15.
The Panthers broke a 8-8 tie with a three-run eighth. Brevard pitcher Drake Black (1-7) quickly got the first two outs of the inning. Trey Robinson had the first of five straight singles to start the rally. Rhett Mixon's base hit tied the game and McKinley Erves' capped the inning with a two-run single and a 11-8 lead. Anthony Elias closed out the game in the ninth to record his first save of the season. Zach English (2-0) got the win despite allowing Brevard to tie the game with four runs in the top of the eighth. Christian Ezzell's game-tying three-run home run highlighted the inning for the Tornados. The Panthers finished with 13 hits. Mixon finished the game with three hits and three RBIs. Erves had a pair of hits and also drove in three runs. Erves was one of five Panthers with two hits.
The Panthers host Stephens Institute in a non-conference game Wednesday.
