Senior outfielder James Poropatic is the USA South Baseball Player of the Week, while freshman infielder/outfielder Jack Layrisson is the Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference for the week ending March 18.
The pair helped lead the Panthers to a 3-1 record last week, including take two of three from USA South rival Maryville. Poropatic went a combined 7-for-15 (.467) with a .529 on-base percentage and a .867 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, four RBIs, a double, a triple, a home run, two walks and a stolen base for the week. In the Maryville series, Poropatic was a combined 7-for-12 with four runs scored, four RBIs, a double, a triple, a home run, two walks and a stolen base. Layrisson was 8-for-16 (.500) with a .529 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, two RBIs, two triples, a walk and a stolen base. Layrisson was a combined 7-for-13 with a run scored, two RBIs, two triples, a walk and a stolen base against Maryville.
