Football hands out 2010 season coach's awards

The LaGrange College football team held its awards dinner this past Tuesday evening. Head coach Todd Mooney and the coaching staff announced the 2010 season coach's awards.

Senior running back Andrecus Lindley was selected as the team's Offensive Player of the Year. Lindley played in all 10 games with nine starts. He led the team with 675 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. Lindley also had 22 receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns. He led the team with 1,047 all-purpose yards and in scoring with 86 points.  Lindley tied for 46th in NCAA Division III in scoring, averaging 8.4 points per game and was second in the NCAA Division III Independent rankings in scoring. Lindley had a season-high 120 yards rushing and school-record four rushing touchdowns at Rhodes. He scored the winning touchdown in overtime against Millsaps and was Offensive Player of the Week for the Millsaps and Rhodes games.

Junior defensive back Josh Clinton was selected as the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Clinton started all 10 games. He led the team with 62 total tackles and had a team-best 46 solo tackles. Clinton had an interception and five pass break ups, which was second on the team. He forced a team-best three fumbles and had a fumble recovery. Clinton had a season-high 12 tackles at N.C. Wesleyan and against Apprentice.

Senior wide receiver Devin Billings was the recipient of the Phil Williamson Award. The award is named in honor of LaGrange College athletics director Phil Williamson. The award encompasses excellence and outstanding leadership on the field, the classroom, campus and community over the past year.
