Message from Assistant Director of Sports Information Trevor Wenners: We will be featuring our outstanding student-athletes with a standout-performer series. On every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 1 – July 6, we will highlight one special person from LaGrange College athletics. Every Panther program will be featured once during the series. You can see these stories on our Panthers' athletic website or through our social-media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
The LaGrange College women's soccer team saw many student-athletes step up to the plate during the 2019 season.
Rising junior goalkeeper Emma Smith was chief among them, as she led the team in wins (6), saves (113), save percentage (.825) and individual shutouts (2) during an eight-win season for the Panthers. The eight victories are tied for the third most in a single season in program history and the most since the 2013 campaign.

Smith, who is originally from Fernandina Beach, Florida, maintained a 1.70 goals-against average, while ranking fourth in the USA South in saves and sixth in save percentage. She recorded shared shutouts during triumphs over Mary Baldwin on Sept. 21 and Judson on Oct. 22.
Smith was remarkable during a 1-0 setback at Huntingdon on Oct. 16, as she turned aside a career-high 19 shots. During five of the final seven games in the 2019 season, the young woman registered double-digit save totals.
Smith posted individual shutouts during victories over Toccoa Falls on Sept. 3 and William Peace on Sept. 15. Rising junior Sydney Dailey buried the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Berea on Oct. 12, while Smith tallied 13 saves in the victory at Panther Field.
Smith has stopped 10 or more shots in 10 separate games during her two-year collegiate career.
Smith has cemented her place in multiple portions of the Panthers' record book. During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, respectively, she recorded three and two individual shutouts, which are tied for the fifth and seventh most in a single season in program history. Smith's six wins during the 2019 season are tied for the fifth most in school history.
Under career records, Smith checks in at No. 4 in saves per game with 8.0. Additionally, the young woman has recorded a total of five individual shutouts, which are currently tied for the fourth most in program history.
