With a last minute goal, Point is able to come away with a tie against the Panthers.
The game started off quickly with both teams taking chances but not coming away with any goals. This was until Point was able to sneak one by in the 11th minute to go up 1-0. After multiple saves by the Skyhawks, Briana Suarez assisted by Makenzi Maltezo found the net to tie the game 1-1 in the 26th minute. Only twelve minutes later, Kendyl Anderson scored a great goal to put the Panthers up 2-1. Going into halftime, LaGrange College led 2-1.
In the second half, both teams looked to create opportunities for a goal but neither could find the net. It looked like the Panthers were going to come away with a win until Point knocked in a goal in the 87th minute. Final score was 2-2.
In other news, with the great performances in last weekend's games in North Carolina, Kaia King and Makenzi Maltezo were nominated as offensive (King) and defensive (Maltezo) players of the week for the Collegiate Conference of the South.
The team has their first home game at Panther field on Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. against Sweet Briar. Come out and create a great home atmosphere!
