The women's soccer team celebrates senior day today (Oct. 23) against Faulkner University at 5 p.m. The celebrations begin at 4:40, so show up early to cheer on these five outstanding Panther seniors.
The matchup
The Panthers are 6-6-3 (3-4-1 CCS) and most recently tied with Berea College 1-1 (Oct. 21). Briana Suarez leads the Panthers in points with 20 off of nine goals and two assists. Both graduate transfer Cassidy Abbott and freshman Anna Wright have split time in the goal this season. It is unknown whether who will be starting, but either way both players have had a successful season. Faulkner University is 4-7-2 and in their last match they won 1-0 over Blue Mountain University (Oct. 21). Ainsley Lockwood leads their team in points with nine total off of three goals and three assists. The two teams have not played against each other in recent years.
The seniors
Nikki Longmoore is a defender who has played in over 35 games as a Panther. She comes from Kissimmee, Fla. and is getting her degree in nursing.
Lauren Williamson is a senior from Alpharetta, Ga. and is getting her degree in nursing. She plays the midfielder position and has played in over 45 games here at LC.
Erica Bower is a biology major from Tucker, Ga. She plays forward and has contributed in over 20 games as a Panther.
Christina Shanahan is a senior from Marietta,Ga. She plays as a midfielder and defender and has played in over 35 games as a Panther.
Maggie Dattilo is the final senior on the 2023 Panther soccer team. She comes from Peachtree City, Ga. and has played as a midfielder in 12 games in 2023. Maggie is earning her degree in nursing.
