The Panthers face the Lions this Tuesday (Oct. 10) at Panther Field at 7 p.m.
The Match
LC is 5-5-2 (2-3 CCS record) and are coming off of a 4-0 loss against Belhaven (Oct. 5). In that match against the Blazers, the team struggled with creating opportunities. The Panthers took a limited four total shots, while Belhaven had 23. The Panthers have shown that they can score goals and create chances. In the two games before Belhaven, they beat Wesleyan 9-0 (Sept. 27) and Warren Wilson 4-0 (Sept. 30). Midfielder Briana Suarez leads the team in points with 18 from her eight goals and two assists. The Lions are 5-5-4 (3-1-1 in the CCS) and most recently tied Covenant 0-0 (Oct. 7). The Panthers also played Covenant but lost 1-0 in a hard fought battle (Sept. 16). Sophomore defender Sierra Judson leads the Lions in points (12) with her six goals. Junior Haylee Dornan has been the keeper for the Lions this season and has posted a .756 save percentage. The last time the two teams played, the Lions won 3-0 (Oct. 13, 2022).
What to watch for
Coming off the 4-0 loss against a very tough Belhaven squad, watch for how the Panthers can bounce back in this CCS matchup. As mentioned, the Panthers were limited in the chances to score that game, so pay attention to how the team can shake things up to get more shots off this week.
