Following a slow first half, the Panthers woke up in the second, scoring two quick goals. Meredith College came out fierce in the first half today with a score by Mereditth Warrick in the 12th minute. Limited opportunities was the story for LC in the first half. The Panthers only had three total shots while Meredith had seven.
Coach Fosuhene's halftime speech must have been special because in the second half the Panthers were firing on all cylinders. Within ten minutes, LC had already put two shots on goal, with Christina Shanahan knocking one in during the 55th minute after a great pass from Kendyl Anderson found her in front of the net. Only five minutes later, Kendyl Anderson passed to Kirsten Captino for her to stuff in a goal and put the Panthers up 2-1. In the 73rd minute, MC answered with a goal of their own when Rachel Ward hit a low left shot to tie the game at two a piece.
A key in today's tie was the goalkeeping performance from Cassidy Abbott. With six shots on goal, Abbott saved an impressive four.
With this tie, the Panthers come back from North Carolina with one win and a tie on the season. The next match is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 7) right up the road at Point University. Show your support for the Panthers and create a home-like atmosphere at Point!
