The LaGrange College women's soccer team earned 19 points and was picked to finish seventh in the USA South West Division Coaches Preseason poll Wednesday.
The Panthers trailed sixth-place Berea by six points. Maryville secured the top spot with 62 points and six first-place votes, while Piedmont finished second with 58 points and a trio of first-place nods. During the COVID-altered spring season, the Lions won the West Division title game, 1-0, at Maryville.

In the East Division, Methodist ran away with first place, earning 85 points and seven first-place votes. Greensboro, the winner of the 2021 East Division crown last spring, finished in the second slot with 72 points and two first-place votes.
Last spring, LC finished with a 3-5 mark in the USA South, defeating Berea, 3-1, on Feb. 13, Agnes Scott, 4-0, on March 16 and Wesleyan, 5-0, on April 5.
During the win against the Scotties on Panther Field, Madison Demkowski scored a hat trick, featuring her first collegiate goal and game-winner. Sydney Dailey finished with a goal and an assist in the win against the Mountaineers at Callaway Stadium. Nikki Longmoore scored twice, including her first collegiate goal, in the triumph over the visiting Wolves.
LaGrange left everything on the field during a 1-0 overtime loss to Huntingdon at Panther Field on March 10. Goalkeeper Maurie White recorded a career-high in saves, turning aside 12-of-13 shots for a .923 save percentage.
