Senior captain and midfielder Sydney Dailey finished with one goal and one assist for the LaGrange College women's soccer team during a 5-0 victory in exhibition action against Emory Oxford during senior day Wednesday evening on Panther Field.
Prior to the game, the Panthers (5-5-1, 3-3-1 USA South) honored their exceptional seven-person senior class in Audrey Harkness, Jasmine Middleton, Maurie White, Riley Hammett, Madison Demkowski, Taylor Hamm and Dailey.
Sophomore forward Erica Bower finished with two goals, while White and sophomore goalkeeper Rian May combined for a shared shutout against the Eagles (0-6-1).
During the 16th minute, LaGrange started the scoring with an own goal by Emory Oxford. Bower scored in the 29th minute off a pass by Dailey. With 29 seconds left in the opening half, Bower struck again, sending the Panthers into halftime with a three-goal lead.
Harkness scored with 33:51 left in regulation off an outstanding long through ball by Demkowski. Dailey beat the Eagles' goalkeeper and ended the scoring from long range in the 75th minute, assisted by sophomore forward Sydney Saul.
LaGrange will compete at USA South-foe Maryville in its final regular season game Saturday at 2 p.m.
Senior Spotlight:
Audrey Harkness - Harkness scored her first collegiate goal during a 17-0 victory over Allen on Sept. 21. She has served as the Leader of Life Group Connect and is an active member of Students for Life and the Art Student League. After graduation, the Jackson, Georgia, native plans to work as a graphic designer for MGroup, a hospitality company.
Jasmine Middleton - Middleton picked up her first collegiate goal and assist in a 17-0 win over Allen on Sept. 21. She has been a member of the International Honor Society in Education, while being President of Phi Mu Kappa Phi and the Executive Director of LaGrange College Miracle. The Villa Rica, Georgia, native plans on being an elementary school teacher and pursuing a master's in education.
Maurie White - The goalkeeper has recorded five wins and one individual shutout in net during her career. White has maintained a 3.93 GPA. She is President of Delta Mu Delta, the Phi Mu Vice President of Committees, a Presidential Ambassador and Director of Fundraising for LC Miracle, while being members of the Student-Athlete Advisory and Senior Giveback Committees. After graduation, the LaGrange native plans on working in the accounting department of a large business or public company.
Riley Hammett - She has two goals and four assists so far in her senior season. Hammett is a Residential Adviser, Social Chair in Phi Mu, Senior Intern for the Development office, Women's Chair in the Sports Management club and Moral Leader for LC Dance Marathon. Her majors are accounting and marketing & entrepreneurship. She has maintained a 3.65 GPA. The Fernandina Beach, Florida, native aspires to attend graduate school and pursue a master's in business administration. She wants a career in finance or marketing.
Sydney Dailey - Dailey is a two-time USA South All-Sportsmanship Team honoree and has earned Player and Rookie of the Week honors from the conference office. She was the team's MVP in 2019 and Rookie of the Year in 2018. She currently ranks sixth in program history in career points (64), goals (23) and assists (18). During the 2021 fall season, she ranks second in the USA South in assists (8), sixth in goals (10) and fourth in points (28). The Residential Adviser has been a member of Kappa Delta and the Sports Management club, while maintaining a 3.55 GPA. The Carrollton, Georgia, native plans to attend law school after graduation.
Madison Demkowski – The Villa Rica, Georgia, native scored a hat trick, including her first collegiate goal and first career game-winner, during a 4-0 triumph over Agnes Scott on March 16. Demkowski is a Residential Adviser, member of the Social Council, President for Students for Life and the Social Media Director for the Sports Management club. She has maintained a 3.74 GPA. Demkowski plans on getting a master's in public administration, and then work in state and local government as a chief of staff.
Taylor Hamm – Hamm has recorded five goals, four assists and 14 points during her career. The Ocala, Florida, native presented at the Eastern Education Research Association concerning isolation in academia. She is in her second year as the Social Justice and Advocacy Chair for LPCA Georgia. She wants to pursue a doctorate in forensic psychology and work as a psychologist in the judicial system.
