MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Senior captain and defender Madison Demkowski of the LaGrange College women's soccer team found the back of the net during the 35th minute in a 5-1 USA South setback at Maryville Saturday afternoon.
LaGrange's season comes to an end with a 5-6-1 overall record and 3-4-1 mark in the conference. First-year Head Coach Kennet Fosuhene made an immediate impact, as the Panthers made huge strides forward this fall. From Oct. 7-16, LC went 3-0-1, including ending a five-game losing streak to Huntingdon with a 2-2 draw in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Panthers picked up USA South wins over Wesleyan, Berea and Agnes Scott, outscoring the three teams by a combined margin of 9-2. LC fell, 2-1, in double overtime to Brevard on Sept. 26, but showed great resiliency evening the score in the 84th minute. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Williamson redirected a free kick by senior defender Taylor Hamm into the back of the net.
The Scots (10-6-2, 6-2-0) were led on Saturday by a two-goal effort from Bailey Sipos. Hailey Cartt, Zoe Van Hook and Katie O'Brien finished with a goal apiece, while Delaney Muldoon tallied the game's only assist.
Maryville led the shots category, 30-5, and the corner-kicks statistic, 12-3. The Scots held a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman midfielder Briana Suarez led the visitors with a total of three shots and two on net. Sipos posted game-highs for the hosts with seven total shots and three on target.
