After leading the LaGrange College women's basketball team in points and steals per game, junior guard Jahpera McEachin was named to the USA South West Division Second Team on Thursday morning.
Senior captain Sadie Desroches was the Panthers' representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.
McEachin averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals during the 2019-20 season for LaGrange (15-11, 8-8 USA South), as the Panthers reached the USA South Tournament for the eighth-consecutive season.
"I am happy to see Jahpera honored on the All-Conference Team," said Panthers head coach Lee Buchanan. "It is always a joy for a coach when a player receives an award. She is a quality player and had a solid season. She is a diligent worker and has helped lead this year's team to a great deal of success."
McEachin recorded a career-high 25 points, going 11-for-11 from the free-throw line, at Oglethorpe on Nov. 9. The 11 made free throws are tied for the 11th most in a single game in program history. During a 67-65 triumph over Berry on Nov. 10, the junior standout recorded the game-winning runner on the left side of the lane with four seconds remaining.
During a 58-54 setback to Huntingdon in the first round of the USA South Tournament on Wednesday, McEachin finished with 15 points, four rebounds and two steals. The 15 points were tied for the most by any Panther in the game. She finished with 11 points, a career-high nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 49-47 victory over Berry on Nov. 26.
The shooting guard compiled a game-high 17 points, shooting 6-for-11 from the floor, 2-for-3 on 3-pointers and 3-for-3 from the foul line, during a 61-47 triumph at USA South-foe Brevard on Nov. 30. Additionally, she recorded four assists, two rebounds and two steals. During a 52-48 comeback victory at Maryville on Jan. 25, the Federal Way, Washington, native recorded six assists, which tied the most by McEachin in a Panthers' uniform.
McEachin scored in double figures in 15-of-26 games, as she was one of eight Panthers to appear in all 26 games, making 25 starts. She shot 78.4 percent from the free-throw line (58-for-74) and led the team with a total of 276 points.
