The LaGrange College Women's Basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start on Saturday, eventually dropping the contest to Berea College 81-59.
The Panthers only saw the lead once in the game, up 8-6 midway through the first quarter. From there, the Mountaineers steadily churned out more points than LC could match.
It was 35-25 at the half, and the second was much the same, with LC unable to keep pace.
"We didn't rise to the occasion today," said Head Coach Jasen Jonus. "We came out flat, and once we finally started playing tougher we were down.
"We battled and didn't give up, but we have to learn from this loss and bounce back Wednesday on the road."
Zyhia Johnson led the Panther scoring with 15 points, followed by Laila Battle with 12. Johnson was also team leader in rebounds with seven, followed by Gracie Brunel and Breonna Glover with five. Brunel and Ema Turner both contributed three assists.
LC now 8-4 (2-1 CCS) stays on the road for two more games and faces Huntingdon Wednesday at 6 p.m.
