By Joshua J. Darling, Sports Information Director

LAGRANGE, Ga. – One of the hottest teams in the league having won seven of their last eight, LaGrange (12-4, 6-1 CCS) women's basketball looks to solidify their hold on second place in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) standings as they head to Piedmont (9-7, 5-2 CCS) on Wednesday, January 25. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia.

LC enters having dropped just one game since December 30, that being an 81-59 decision at league-leading and current undefeated Berea (17-1, 9-0 CCS) on January 7. Since that loss the Panthers have won four straight, defeating Huntingdon (64-51 on 1/11), Belhaven (79-63 on 1/14), Covenant (75-50 on 11/17) and Wesleyan (81-50 on 1/22).

Piedmont sits right behind them in the standings but has gone 1-2 in their last three after opening the new year with three straight victories. Most recently those have been a 77-63 loss at Berea (1/15), 87-63 victory vs. Belhaven (1/20) and a 98-91 loss to Huntingdon (1/21).

ALL-TIME SERIES

Piedmont has dominated the all-time series 40-12 dating back to the 1999-2000 campaign. The Panthers enter having dropped nine straight meetings, a stretch that dates back to 2017. Their most recent victory came that same year as they notched a 70-59 decision at Mariotti. The clubs last meeting saw the Lions notch a 69-52 win on February 9, 2022 in LaGrange.
