LAGRANGE, Ga. – A win away from tying the second most in a single season in the NCAA DIII Era, LaGrange (18-6, 11-3 CCS) women's basketball closes out the regular season against Agnes Scott (3-21, 3-12 CCS) on Senior Day on Saturday, February 18. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in historic Mariotti Gymnasium with Senior Day slated for just prior to tip.
The Panthers come in having locked up the No. 2 seed in the inaugural Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and look set to face either Covenant or Agnes Scott in their opening round matchup on Wednesday, February 22. The Scots are currently in the No. 7 spot, one game ahead of the Scotties.
LC also hits the finale with the opportunity to tie the 2011-12 team's 19 wins (19-9) for the second highest since 1999-2000 and would then be just one win from equaling the total of the 2010-11 squad that went 20-5.
ASC comes into the game needing a win and a CC loss to Huntingdon to potentially stay out of the No. 8/No. 9 play-in game. The teams split on the year and those outcomes would put the league's tie-breaker system into play. The Scotties come in having dropped six of their last seven with he lone win being a 66-47 decision over Wesleyan on February 7.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Dating to the 1999-2000 campaign, LaGrange has notched a commanding 36-7 margin in the all-time series. That includes a current 24-game win streak that stretches back to 2009. Among those, a whopping 22 have been by double-digits, including an 81-point victory (106-25) in 2021. Most recently the Panthers delivered a 77-46 decision at Mariotti Gym on January 16, 2022 and 82-57 victory at Agnes Scott on January 28.
