By Joshua J. Darling, Sports Information Director

LAGRANGE, Ga. – No. 2 Seed LaGrange (20-6, 13-3 CCS) women's basketball is on the cusp of both a Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Tournament championship berth and history as they face No. 3 Seed Piedmont (16-10, 11-5 CCS) in the semifinals on Saturday, February 25. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Berea, Kentucky on the home court of No. 1 Seed Berea.

After earning the second overall seed with a season for the ages, the Panthers are playing for both the opportunity to compete for a championship in the inaugural year of the conference but also to break the program record for wins in a season in the NCAA DIII Era. Last time out they tied the 2010-11 squad's 20 victories (20-5) for the most since 1999-2000. With their 74-59 victory over No. 6S Covenant they also come into the game having won 12 of their last 14 games.

No slouch, the Lions hit the semifinals with seven wins in their last nine games, including a dominant 97-71 decision over Huntingdon on February 22. They are riding a three-game win streak dating to a 94-24 win over Wesleyan (2/14) and a 56-45 victory over Maryville (2/18).

The winner of the semifinal will face either No. 1S Berea or No. 5S Maryville in the championship game on Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Piedmont has dominated the all-time series 40-14 dating back to the 1999-2000 campaign. The Panthers had dropped nine straight meetings, a stretch that dated back to 2017 before a 76-63 victory in Demorest, Georgia on January 25 and a 73-61 decision in Mariotti Gymnasim on February 7.
