Amanda Mclendon's dominant first half performance pushed the Panthers past Regent 97-70.
First half details
It was all Panthers all game. LC began the second match of the Covenant Classic absolutely on fire. The Panthers started the game going on a 6-0 run which forced a Regent timeout. While Regent was able to close the LC lead to 10-9, the Panthers buckled down and began to put it on the Royals from Virginia. The best play of the half came from Laila Battle with six minutes remaining in the second quarter. The guard made a smooth double move past the Royal defender and hit a clean layup to bring the LC lead to 37-16. At the end of the first half, LC led 48-30. Amanda McLendon dominated the paint in the first. Despite playing only 10 minutes, the forward grabbed four rebounds, had one steal and scored a team-high 14 points (83% FG shooting).
Second half details
LC continued to cruise in the second half. The best play in the half happened early, when the Panthers grabbed their own rebound and found a wide open Britney Chavez, for her to knock down a three. LC took smart shots, owned the paint and used great communication on their way to winning 97-70.
Top Panther performances
Britney Chavez had one of her best performances of the year in today's win. The guard scored 14 points, shooting 45% from the field and from three. She also accounted for three rebounds and two steals.
Amanda Mclendon also had a great performance today. She scored team-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.
