Rome, Georgia—The LaGrange College Women's Basketball Team claimed its first victory of the season Saturday with a 83-70 win over Berry at the CCS/SAA Classic.
After overcoming a slow start, the Panthers outscored Berry in the game's final three quarters, outpacing the Vikings 42-28 in the second half.
"We started off slow tonight, but we finally caught our stride defensively the second half and pulled the win out," said Head Coach Jasen Jonus.
"It was a great team effort all around. Everyone contributed, from our bench energy to everyone on the court. We never gave up."
LC was led in scoring by Zyhia Johnson's 17 points, followed by Laila Battle's 16. Battle also had 6 assists.
Overall, the team made 53.6% of its field-goal shots.
