LAGRANGE, Ga. – Coming off their first loss since the first week of January, LaGrange (14-5, 8-2 CCS) women's basketball looks to get back in the win column as they host Maryville (8-11, 5-5 CCS) during the stretch run of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) on Friday, February 3. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. in Historic Mariotti Gym.
Despite their most recent loss, 59-56 to Huntington (1/31), LC remains one of the teams to beat in the CCS with nine wins in their last 11 games. During their season-high six-game win streak they knocked off HC 64-51 on January 11) and downed Belhaven (79-63 on 1/14), Covenant (75-50 on 1/17), Wesleyan (81-50 on 1/22), Piedmont (76-63 on 1/25) and Agnes Scott (82-57 on 1/28).
MC, meanwhile, has found themselves in the middle of the pack as they have split their last four games. Following an 80-36 win vs. Wesleyan (1/20) they fell to league-leading Berea (85-59 on 1/21) before beating ASC 72-36 three days later and falling to Belhaven 73-68 on January 28.
ALL-TIME SERIES
In one of the most lopsided series in program history, LaGrange trails Maryville 50-6 dating back to the 1999-2000 season. It is a series that would see the Scots claim the first 26 meetings through the 2011 season and 32 of the first 33. MC would deliver another 13-game win streak but the Panthers enter on their first ever two-game winning streak following a narrow 74-71 victory on February 5, 2022 in LaGrange and an 87-81 road win earlier this season on January 6.
